From a bamboo
grove to your dinner table

It started on a high school trip to Kyoto, Japan. Walking through towering bamboo groves, our co-founder Jonathan had a thought: "If bamboo toothbrushes exist… what else could bamboo replace?" A few hours later at dinner — plastic fork in hand — the answer became obvious.

Back in New York City, Jonathan called his childhood best friend Victor. That night, Bambi's was born — conceived on a bedroom floor covered in bamboo samples, sketched logos, and way too many YouTube tutorials.

We were 17, still doing homework and college apps by day, designing products by night. Was it hard? Absolutely. Did we almost give up? More than once. But every setback taught us something, and every small win fueled us even more.

In the summer of 2025, we officially launched. Two teenagers with a big dream and an even bigger belief: plastic is out. Bamboo is in. 🎋

How we got here

Mid-Year 2024
✈️ The Kyoto Moment

Jonathan visits the bamboo groves of Kyoto on a high school trip. Inspiration strikes — if bamboo can replace a toothbrush, why not a fork?

📞 The Phone Call

Back in NYC, Jonathan calls Victor. One late-night brainstorm later, the concept for Bambi's is locked in. The bedroom floor becomes their first office.

🔨 Building in the Dark

Homework by day, product design by night. Bamboo samples everywhere, YouTube on repeat. Countless prototypes, countless setbacks — and lessons from every single one.

Classmates test the utensils at lunch. Teachers give high-fives. A local newspaper features the story. Two teenagers realize they've accidentally started a movement.

500+
Years it takes a plastic

~90
Days for our bamboo
utensils to biodegrade

The facts that made
us go all-in

500 vs 90 Days

A plastic fork takes up to 500 years to decompose. Our bamboo utensils break down naturally in roughly 90 days. The math isn't close.

🌱
Fastest Growing Plant

Bamboo is the fastest-growing plant on Earth — some species grow up to 3 feet per day. It regenerates without replanting and needs zero pesticides.

🚫
Zero Coatings. Zero Bioplastics.

Most "eco" utensils are coated in chemicals or blended with bioplastics. Ours are 100% pure bamboo — nothing added, nothing hidden.

🍽️
Taste-Free Promise

Ever bitten into a woody fork? We worked obsessively on our finish to make sure our bamboo utensils taste like absolutely nothing — just your food.

💪
Stronger Than You Think

Bamboo has a higher tensile strength than steel by weight. Our utensils won't snap mid-bite on your toughest takeout night. We've tested it. A lot.

🌊
8M Tons of Plastic

Every year, 8 million metric tons of plastic enter our oceans. Switching to bamboo is one of the simplest, most direct ways to stop contributing to that number.
